My
Very creative presentation.
Interesting idea deconstruction - there's a series of books about French History that the author of Game of Thrones used as influence as well.
Remember to include the sub-genre work you did in the group.
Use your understanding of narrative, representation and micro-elements when analysing.
Keep it up!

Sub genres
In here we are experimenting on the different types of sub genre. This includes thriller; science fiction, gothic horror, action, psychological, slasher and others. Each of the part still contribute to the main theme " Thriller" and is being expressed by the use of Micro elements :Camerawork, Editing, Mise en scene and Sound.
In the first part we try to show" Psychological thriller" by the use of cropped images especially the important features like the face which could have given the viewer information about the video but the cropped is really effective since it seems to create suspense and thrill to the scene because of the unknown and our fear of the unknown makes it even more effective. The non-diegetic sound makes the scene even more creepy since the sharp cut creates a sense of danger which contributes to the tone of menace and dark. The doll the the girl is holding represents isolation from the society (abandoned) and loneliness along with a childish thought that the character has.
Secondly, the "Supernatural" scene is highly emphasizing on the unknown and uncertainty. The effects of the scene , the red color splash conveys blood and the black and white part symbolizes the "Evil".The non diegetic sound of the violent violin makes the scene very ominous since the violent has a bad connotation. The wounded hand represents threat and death ( blood = death )and the fast motion of the hand grabbing the scarf emphasizes on the "Supernatural" ability.
Next, the "psychological romance thriller " we represented this thriller by the use of prolong previous non-diegetic sound from the "Supernatural"scene to show to resemblance and the connection between the 2 scenes. We show that this romance is also a dark and ominous one by the extending music.
We show romance and love here by the character's speech ( Diegetic sounds) and the flower which symbolizes beauty which is a beauty of their love.
Lastly, "Action" scene - we're trying to show violence which involves physical fighting. We achieve this "Thrill" and "Excitement" by using jump cuts and fast music.

Composing music
Hans Zimmer
the composer of the Dark Knight
soundtrack discussing the creation of the Joker’s Theme
Hans Zimmers
He didn’t want to write something that is a summer black bluster ,
happy indulgent score wanted something that people could truly hate and provocative not some summer block buster and happy.
His intention is going on to the edge which pushes his project further. The qualities that Hans Zimmer want the music to have is Punk-rock and Roll( but not too different form the rest of the music),Unsettling sounds and a music that defines the character in 2 notes ( gets tighter and tighter but never breaks) - The focus on the notes and that everything has to be closer to you ( Keeps drawing you in e.g. Whisper instead of a shout)
How do you feel about the final score and explain why you feel it
work/doesn’t work.
I feel that the final score really captivates the audiences' attention as it is a new style and different from other work. How the music is alarming and painful to listen really reinforce the character of Joker. This is a very effective way to create representation and meaning for the characters in the film. I think it really works well and how the music gets more intense every time gives the sense of warning and make the viewer really fear the character.
Evaluate what you have learned from this task and how it might impact
on choices made when coming to create your own soundtrack.
Saul Bass
The credits before Saul Bass was credit sequence at the beginning - nothing to do with story with no emotional sate just like an
opening of a book / literature.
Deconstruction and Analysis
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1
Representation
Each of the districts all have distinct personalities e.g. District 12 is a coal mining coomunity, District 11 is argriculture. These district supply goods and services for the Capitol, yet they are given sanctions, punishments and unfair restrictions. However, DIstrict 13 is the only exception.
This part of the Hunger Games , "The Mockingjay part 1" highly emphasizes on District 13. District 13 is a rebel region that the Capitol obliterated during the Dark days as a reminder that everyone in Panem have to obey power of the Capitol.
In the movie the mocking jay bird has a powerful connotation.Where Katniss wears the mockingly pin ( gold token) during the Games to represent District 12.
The color gold symbolizes success, achievement and triumph as well as associated with value and elegance which the color itself is linked to energy and the power of the sun.The mockingjay is a hybrid bird.It is breeder from Jabberjays which are birds that are genetically engineered by the Capitol as spies during the rebellion of District 13.They overhear conversations of the opposers and bring back information to the Capitol.Later on, the Jabberjays were fed by District 13 and is abandoned by the Capitol and left alone in the wild. They mated with the female mocking birds and mutated into the " Mockingjay"
After generations, the Mockingjay is able to carry tunes and repeat songs, melodies and lullabies.
After generations, the Mockingjay is able to carry tunes and repeat songs, melodies and lullabies.
The Mockingjay reminds Katniss of her father ( who loved it so much) and Rue.
The pin symbolizes a creature with a life of it's own ( spirit). It breaks free of the control of the Capitol suggesting Inability of the Capitol to enforce power all over all districts.Birds symbolizes resistance and rebellion.A symbol of survival against the odds, a reminder of Capitol's mistakes making Katniss a symbol to insult the regime.
In this part 1 the Mocking Jay movie Peeta is being represented as Katniss' weakness as Katniss really cares about him. Also, Peeta is used as a weapon and a defence for the Capitol.
The way that Peeta is dressed during the interview makes him looks like he's one of the Capitol's citizen ( which is all in white ) where he is more classy and neat compared to when he was back at his District 12.
Katniss' outfit that is used to represent the rebellion against the Capitol , the "Mocking Jay" symbolizes the power of freedom. Her resistant black leathered outfit symbolizes strength and resistance. The black evokes war since it is the colour of ashes that is often created during a fire ( in wars - destructions) and also is a memorial of the coal ( from District 12 - coal mining)- that is now destroyed in this part.
The bow that she carry represents Katniss herself as the arrow and the bow is her most skilled weapon. The bow and the arrow represents goal-orientation, seeing the target , taking aim and shooting. The bow represents ambition whereas the target represents the goal.

Idea Deconstruction
which the story is Inspired by the titular Thracian gladiator who led a slave against Ancient Rome in 73 BC, the show is equal parts Gladiator,
Game of Thrones and 300.
The similarity is that both of the plot have sex and violence where these things are seem as a laughable joke. The content is highly explicit and for adults since there is many love scenes.Apart from that the story is based on the history.Which is just as similar to Game of thrones since they both are historical.( war/fighting/power)
Another similarity is that the movie is based on rebellion and enslaving which is similar to Game of Thrones. The sport of "killing" is also very common in both movies which both of the stories , the people living in that period of time "Killing" is seen as a game or entertainment especially for characters which are superior than others.

Another film the synchronizes with Game of Thrones is Rome which is a British-American-Italian historical drama television series created by Bruno Heller, John Milius and William J. MacDonald.
The movie is very similar to Game of Thrones as it has a lot of battles and war ( fighting) Also, It is both Historical. It also retells the political view , the life people lived in the period. The sets and costume are both very similar to each other as both of their costume have an emphasis on metal handcrafts.

It is an American historical fiction television series following the early years of Mary, Queen of Scots, in 1557 France. It outlines the story of a leader who wishes to secure the family, facing marriage challenges just like in "Game of Thrones" where the female characters love life is complicated and full with complexity.( etc. Affairs, Forced Marriages).Another similarity is that the leading female character have to face challenges , readying herself to rule and trying to find a balance between the demands just like the main lead female characters in Game of Thrones.( For example : Cersei )
The stories are almost identical since they are both a Historical fiction.
